Job Description Budget Counselor PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists people with financial issues, including analyzing financial situations and recommending alternatives, teaching credit and money management skills, developing Debt Management Plans (DMP), working with creditors and referring participants to other community resources.

Planning, implementing and evaluating current and new workshops as financial environment dictates.

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to become certified as a Consumer Credit Counselor within 6 months of hire
  • Verbal and written skills
  • Able to plan, implement, evaluate and report activities conducted
  • Able to communicate effectively in writing and prepare written documents
  • Able to present oneself in a personable and professional manner
  • Able to receive and utilize constructive criticism regarding performance, presentation and relationships with others
  • Able to perform basic computer skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Able to support the mission of Catholic Charities in working with those who are poor and at the margins
  • Possess good decision making ability
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and to troubleshoot when difficulties and challenges present themselves
  • Able to develop rapport with others
  • Able to establish programs, workshops, counseling opportunities as requested
