Duties of the General Ledger Accountant:

  • Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other various financial reports
  • Develop integrated analysis of trends, costs, and revenues
  • Ensure financial information has been recorded accurately
  • Communicate with auditors regarding financial activity as needed
  • Review, analyze, and process statements
  • Review weekly commission/fee cycle reconciliations
  • Calculate and complete month end accruals
  • Oversee and review representative promissory note activity and processes
  • Reconcile conference activity
  • Reconcile representative/advisor and employee FINRA renewals
  • Reconcile 1099 related accounts and prepare manual adjustments
  • Reconcile and analyze house trading/error accounts
  • Reconcile and analyze commission/fee accounts at month end
  • Participate in SOX and the company RAMP program
  • Calculate bonus accruals for representatives
  • Check and ACH processing and payables distribution
  • Reconcile corporate bank accounts monthly
  • Reconcile the Deferred Compensation plan monthly
  • Track revenue and reconcile receivables from preferred sponsor vendors
  • Job Requirements

    Requirements of the General Ledger Accountant:

    • Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
    • 4 years related Accounting experience
    • Previous securities or related industry experience preferred
    • Knowledge of general ledger accounting, practices and principles
    • Ability to pay close attention to detail, work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Ability to recognize problems, formulate and implement appropriate solutions
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple functions
    • Skill in utilizing various software packages such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Access and Accounting software programs
    • Skill in verbal and written communication
