Job Information

Assembles product, partially or completely, positioning parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints, diagrams, layouts or oral instruction.

Role & Responsibility

Principal Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or blueprint.

2. Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets or other fasteners using hand, air and/or power tools.

3. Removes small quantities of metal to produce close fit between parts.

4. Tends to machines to perform force fitting or fastening operations as specified.

5. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with safety rules and regulations.

6. Able to follow written and verbal work instructions to presort parts.

7. Building, filling and sustaining kits to support the assembly line.

OTHER DUTIES:

1. Keeps area clean, organized and follows 5S schedule.

2. Assists in the instruction and training of others as requested by supervisor.

3. Orders parts from outside 3PL logistics or supermarkets.

4. Fills out Red Tags.

5. Utilizes walk behind lift, tugger, or other material handling devices as necessary and qualified to use.

6. Completes preventative maintenance and other duties as directed by Total Production Maintenance.

7. Perform other non-essential duties as assigned by management.

Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly.  Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements.  Must possess the ability to read build sheets and blueprints.  Must be able to perform refrigeration test as trained.  Must be able to work overtime.

The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of high school or equivalent is required.  Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training.  General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations and assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations and assignments.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a shop environment.  Conditions include proximity to moving and mechanical parts, exposure to high noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection and exposure to vibration through the use of tools and equipment.  Subject to air and skin exposures to chemical hazards and atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists and gases.  Required to wear personal protective equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The overall level of work is defined as medium duty.  Employees are expected to exert 21 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 11 to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  There are some levels of work defined as heavy duty in which the employees are expected to exert 51 to 70 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 21 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
