Summary:

Ankura Consulting is looking for Associates and Senior Associates to join its fast-growing Investigations and Accounting Advisory practice.  Ideal Senior Associate candidates have 2-5 years’ experience in public accounting, litigation consulting, financial investigations, forensic accounting, or other related areas.  Entry-level candidates or recent college graduates with an interest and background in these areas will be considered for the Associate role.

Senior Associate Responsibilities:

As a Senior Associate, you will be a key member of the engagement team: intimately familiar with your clients' big-picture objectives and challenges, as well as the smallest details of their books and records.  With this knowledge you will be responsible for performing and executing innovative analytical solutions to address their issues and conveying your results to internal and external project leads.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performing analyses to assess complex fact patterns and preparing reports and schedules summarizing findings for review by senior colleagues and clients
  • Applying accounting, financial, and analytical skills to various client issues, such as review of revenue recognition procedures, detailed analysis of financial statements and underlying books and records, preparation of complex flow projections, and calculations of damages in complex disputes
  • Supervising more junior colleague’s work product and ensuring delivery of high quality product within established timeframes and budgets
  • Maintaining detailed working paper records that reflect assumptions, sources, and methodologies underlying all analytical tasks
  • Preparing schedules for clients and court filings to depict project scope and findings
  • Developing productive working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Contributing to the overall success of the firm by participating in pitches, developing internal training, and marketing the firm externally to prospective clients
  • Job Requirements

    Senior Associate Requirements:

    • 2+ years of experience working in public accounting, audit, or other related consulting field
    • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
    • CPA license preferred
    • Strong team-oriented personality characteristics: hard-working, thoughtful, collaborative, with a positive outlook and confidence without arrogance
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal), mathematical, and organizational skills
    • Able to adapt quickly in handling multiple/evolving tasks as a result of new engagements and/or re-prioritized deadlines
    • Highly motivated, eager to learn, willing to travel, and able to motivate others
    • Able to mentor and develop junior colleagues
    • Strong technical accounting, finance, and SEC disclosure skills preferred (for the IAA team)
    • Understanding of and experience with application and research of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“U.S. GAAP") and relevant auditing standards
    • Proficient with PC environments and related software, including Microsoft Office applications, especially advanced skills in Excel
    • Experience working with databases a plus
    • Desire to work towards CFF, CFA, CFE, ASA, CVA or other professional designation
    • Flexibility to travel as required

    • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience in quality assurance compliance processes is preferred
