Job Description

Nyemaster Goode, P.C. is actively seeking candidates for a Legal Support Assistant. This is a newly created position for our Des Moines, Iowa office and we have two immediate openings. The Legal Support Assistant is responsible for assisting the Legal Secretaries in all aspects of their positions in a team based support role for the attorneys. 


  • Works collaboratively with other legal secretaries in a team based approach.
  • Assist in the preparation of Word documents, Excel files, and PowerPoint presentations as needed.
  • Transcription of dictation from attorneys and other timekeepers.
  • Prepares and processes new client matter forms.
  • Communicates with the Records Department in opening and closing files and in the preparation of label folders.
  • Manages physical and electronic documents and files through a document management system in compliance with current policies.  
  • Scanning documents into the document management system as directed by the team.
  • Enter time entries for attorneys and other timekeepers.
  • Assist in e-filing in County, State and Federal Courts.
  • Assist legal secretaries in the preparation and distribution of client billings.
  • Able to manage calendars, organize and schedule external and internal meetings, teleconferences, networking events, etc.
  • Understand sense of urgency and able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials being handled.
  • Adhere to assigned schedule. Always arrive on time and be ready to perform all tasks associated with the functions of a legal support assistant. Always cooperative and willing to play key role in supporting all employees of the Firm, doing so in a pleasant and supportive manner
  • Personal interaction with attorneys, staff and clients.  Demonstrate and deliver a very high level of customer service to clients.
  • On-site daily attendance for secured computer access and client confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Strong production skills with ability to produce accurate and timely work product when transcribing tapes, formatting documents, inputting data, editing, copying, scanning and transmitting text, data and graphics.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2013 (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Internet research skills, document management systems, attorney time entry software
    • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communications skills. Must be proactive and have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues. Excellent customer-service skills required.


    • A High School diploma or equivalent on the job experience.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a professional services organization providing clerical support.
