Job Description

S3 is looking for a Senior Network Engineer and at a high level would like the following skill set:

• Routing

• Switching

• Firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto(Panorama))

• Cisco Identity Services Engine

• SD-WAN (vendor agnostic)


• Load Balancing (F5)

• Security knowledge would be nice

• Voice over IP

• Collaboration (Cisco)

• Wireless (Cisco controller based)

• Packet brokers

It is always important for the candidate to have a good aptitude for learning, be self-driven and must work well with others.

Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external IT infrastructure. Develops and maintains systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan. Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment. Provides technical support and guidance to peers and users.

Job Requirements


• 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area

• Familiar with advanced network administration concepts, including Microsoft Server, desktop and productivity products, Cisco networking products, networking protocols, server virtualization, and storage area networks

• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

• This position works under general supervision and requires a certain degree of creativity and latitude

• Performs a variety of tasks related to general IT duties and specific team responsibilities (outlined below)

General Duties and Responsibilities

• Reports to specific Team Manager

• Allocate network resources, including analyzing global network capacity and growth requirements, and recommend upgrades and enhancements to meet long-term needs

• Participate in network upgrades and conversions, including installing, configuring, and maintaining production routers, switches, and firewalls

• Identify, address, and correct existing or potential network issues using network monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools in order to provide business continuity. May be required to escalate issues to outside consultants/vendors as appropriate

• Develop and maintain documentation, specifications, network contingency plans, and disaster recovery plans for all network components, including existing and new hardware, software, and cabling. This also includes maintaining up-to-date records of all system assets and licenses

• Participate in corporate capacity planning activities in order to determine future architecture requirements and network configurations.

• May include cost and design analysis

• Train new employees and coach colleagues to enhance their technical skills, system knowledge, and troubleshooting techniques

• May occasionally act as an escalation point for other engineers

• Drives analysis, design and implementation of new/updated business technology systems

• Performs specific duties as relates to and in support of business-unit projects as well as IT infrastructure

• Participates in analysis and needs planning and budgeting with IT and other business units

• Monitors infrastructure systems security and performance and assists with setting related policies

• Takes appropriate action when pre-defined security and performance thresholds are exceeded

• Participates in designing and implementing data integrity measures and daily system backups.

• Collaborates with application developers and software vendors concerning product development and migrating software changes and updates from test systems into the production environment

• Responsible for keeping all responsible systems patched and up to date with latest appropriate software security updates

• Maintains data security and confidentiality of bank and/or customer data

• Provides next level support to Help Desk or other peer teams

• Provides technical and business guidance and coaching to less experienced staff

• Follows and drives established procedures and policies around incident, change, vulnerability and project management.

• Attends weekly team meetings and provides a status report each week

• Participates in established rotating on-call schedule, providing 24x7 support on a periodic basis

• Demonstrates capacity for organization, prioritization, and management in a dynamically changing environment
