Job Description SUMMARY

We have partnered with a growing manufacturing company in need of an Environmental, Health, & Safety Manager to support the safety environmental programs.

  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
  • Implements and maintains company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating safety and environmental policy and procedure manuals.
  • Assist and lead, where appropriate, in the investigation of accidents to ascertain root causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and corrective actions. Assist, and perform where required, with industrial hygiene testing and maintenance for noise, heat, chemical exposure and other hazards.
  • Maintains current knowledge of state and federal regulations governing occupational safety, health and environmental to include, but not limited to 29CFR, 40CFR, and 49CFR.
  • Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly.
  • Review and identify where job safety and hazard analyses need to be conducted for manufacturing equipment
  • Review and report variances to established practices in the safety and environments policy
  • Develops and conducts plant inspections and audits as needed to Identify hazards, recommend preventative measures and corrective actions
  • Participate, and lead where appropriate, site monthly safety committee meetings
  • Performs a variety of complex tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures required in the EH&S field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Generate periodic reports related to routine safety and environmental matters including the Safety Training Matrix and upkeep of training records
  • Develop and ensure that required EH&S training programs are performed throughout the year at designated facilities
  • Maintains EH&S Systems (Such as MSDS/SDS, Safety and Environmental Recordkeeping, etc.)
  • Provide indirect mentorships and guidance to the EH & S Engineer position 
  • Performs other duties as assigned related to Safety and/or Environmental Affairs
  • Job Requirements
    •   Bachelor’s degree in a related field to Safety or Environmental affairs and 4-7 years of experience.  Relative experience in this field will also be considered in lieu of education.
    • Familiarity of the manufacturing environment.
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
    • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Planning/organizational skills
    • Occasional interstate and intrastate travel required
    • Ability to work well with manufacturing labor, human resources personnel, maintenance personnel, supervision and management under direction to meet objectives.
