Job Description Workforce Development Assistant Director

The Vermont Department of Labor is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Director for its Workforce Development Division.  

Among a variety of duties, the primary focus of this role will be to coordinate the successful implementation of the Department’s American Job Center One-Stop initiative as part of the federal program known as WIOA. This effort will require strong communication skills, determination, innovative problem-solving.

The successful candidate will be highly knowledgeable in workforce development best practices and skilled in program management, with a proven track record in situational leadership and effective supervision of staff.

Workforce Development is the largest division within the Department of Labor and is one of the top priorities for the State of Vermont.

Job RequirementsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree AND six (6) years or more of experience at or above an administrative level INCLUDING two (2) years or more in the employment services field AND three (3) years or more of supervisory experience.
OR

Master's degree or higher AND four (4) years or more of experience at or above an administrative level INCLUDING two (2) years or more in the employment services field AND three (3) years or more of supervisory experience.
Preferred:

Development, implementation, and monitoring of programmatic policy and procedure experience.

Grant development, evaluation, and administration experience.
