We are looking to add more outstanding employees to our United team in our Psych RN position to work in Bastrop, Oak Grove, and surrounding areas. 

Job Summary: The Psych RN will administer skilled nursing care to patients requiring intermittent professional nursing service in accordance with the patient’ plan of care. Nursing care includes comprehensive health and psychosocial evaluation, monitoring of the patient’s condition, health promotion, health prevention, coordination of services, teaching activities, provision of direct nursing care, and promotion of patient/family independence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide or supervise skilled nursing services in accordance with physician’s orders

  • Assess and regularly re-evaluate the nursing needs of the patient

  • Develop, initiate, implement, and update the plan of care as needed or at least every 60 days or as needed

  • Provide nursing services which require substantial and specialized nursing skills,  including treatments, diagnostics, and preventive procedures

  • Initiate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures as appropriate for the patient’s care and safety

  • Coordinate services and inform the physician and other personnel of changes in the patient’s condition and needs

  • Teach, supervise, and counsel the patient, family members, and other members of the health  care team regarding the nursing care needs and other related problems of the patient at home

  • Prepare and incorporate clinical and progress notes into the clinical record at least weekly

  • Observe and report the patient’s response to treatment and any changes in his/her condition to the physician and supervising registered nurse

  • Conduct on-site supervisory evaluations at least every six months of each Licensed Practical Nurse while he/she is providing care and document such supervision in the Licensed Practical Nurse’s personnel file

  • Conduct on-site supervision of patient care provided by the Certified Nursing Assistants

  • Function as patient advocate in all medical decisions affecting the patient

  • Evaluate the effectiveness and outcome of care

  • Plans for the patient’s discharge from home care services

  • All other duties assigned

    • Must hold a current  license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Registered Nurse Examiner’s without restrictions

    • One year of  related experience required, two years of related experience preferred


    • Local travel is required daily for this position

    • Overnight travel may occasionally be required

    Job Relationships:

    • Works under the direct supervision of the Case Manager and Assistant Director of Nursing  and under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing

    • Occasionally supervise the work of Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants

    Physical Demands:

    • Employee frequently lifts or move objects or patients weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds

    • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, lift, bend and reach with hands and arms
