Job Description Shriners Hospitals for Children®-Greenville is seeking two (2) PRN RNs - 1 for day shift and 1 for night shift.  The PRN RN in Inpatient provides, coordinates, delegates and evaluates care for the pediatric orthopaedic surgical patient and non-surgical patient.  Possesses knowledge of the peri-operative and the post-operative care needed including dynamic drug therapies for pain management and competency in assessment and monitoring.  Assesses patient condition and care needs and implements a plan of care to meet needs, reduce and control pain, and provide expected outcomes.  Supports and advances the practice of professional nursing.  Performance is reflective of the mission, vision, and values of SHC. Promotes quality patient care in a safe work environment.  Maintains effective communication will all levels of hospital personnel.  The staff nurse maintains effective communication with all levels of the hospital personnel and patients and families.

Job RequirementsRequired:


  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

  • Registered and licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.

  • Must maintain licensure as per requirements of the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.  

  • BLS & PALS certified or obtained within 3 months of employment

  • Work experience required in a hospital setting with a minimum of one year experience in direct patient care on an acute care nursing unit required.  

  • Able to lift , stand for extended periods of time, recognize abnormal sounds, follow written and verbal instructions, remain focused with minimal stimuli, read monitors from a distance of 7 feet.  Must be able to demonstrates manual dexterity.  May require reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching or stair climbing.  Required to lift, push, or move a light to heavy weight patient, equipment and/or supplies. Communication skills and phone skills required. 


  • Pediatric and/or orthopaedic experience preferred.
