Manufacturing Engineer

TYPE:  Machining

INDUSTRY:  Transportation, Commercial, Aerospace, Medical, Power Generation, Hydraulics, Fluid Power

LOCATION:  Cedar Rapids, Iowa

SALARY:  up to $90K plus bonus

  • Job Requirements


    • 5 plus years of manufacturing engineering experience in a metal turning, CNC lathe or Swiss lathe environment.
    • Product launch, new process development and CNC programmer.
    • Knowledge of swiss CNC lathes, swiss screw machines, CNC turning and metal finishing processes.
    • Manual M&G code or CAM software CNC programming.
    • Ability to work from design prints, development of cost estimates, bill of materials (BOM’s) process drawing and work instructions.


    Launch new highly engineered products and development of production turning processes on swiss CNC screw machines or swiss CNC lathes.


    • Working from solid models and prints developing all new processes on production CNC lathes, swiss CNC lathes and screw machines.
    • Selects the machine tool, calculate cycle times, develop cost estimates and process.
    • Specify cutting tools, design special cutting tools and work with cutting tool vendors.
    • Specify work holding, collets, tool holders and machine tool accessories.
    • Create CNC programs
    • Develop work instructions, set up sheets and too lists.
    • Support the shop floor, troubleshoot and work on continuous improvements projects.
