Job Description

SmartSource is in need of a Systems Administrator for a 3-6 month contract.  Must be able to pass drug and background check.

We are seeking highly qualified professionals that will contribute to our ongoing growth and success. We are seeking a qualified Systems Administrator to join our Datacenter Operations team.   


The Datacenter Operations team provides responsible administrative oversight to the infrastructure and provides stewardship for all critical applications and related systems. The ideal candidate is a person that strives to achieve excellence backed by strong troubleshooting, system management and administration experience.


  • Find, correlate, prevent and own complex problems from incident to resolution, implementing solutions to keep the business moving while driving root cause analysis to ensure problems do not resurface;
  • Engage and service internal customers via Remedy incident management ticketing system;
  • Develop and execute solutions to complex problems backed by thorough testing and engineering analysis;
  • Gather and leverage metric data to prevent and uncover problems in the server fleet before they emerge;
  • Use and build tools to deploy and manage rapidly expanding infrastructure;
  • Perform scheduled and ad hoc system maintenance on infrastructure; and
  • Participate in the departmental on-call rotation and maintain adequate availability.
  • Job Requirements


    • 2-5 years’ experience deploying and troubleshooting Windows Server, complex computing platforms, and/or cutting-edge technologies involving virtualization, distribution, and high availability;
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, technical field, or equivalent experience;
    • Customer service focused, maintaining great relationships with your internal clients through calm, courteous and confident demeanor during stressful situations;
    • As a strong troubleshooter, you know every problem has a solution and you are unrelenting, persistent, and confident that you will find that solution, “Just reboot it" is not the fix;
    • Familiar with Active Directory administration, structure, permissions, and best practices;
    • Some Experience with patch management tools like Shavlik, WSUS, or vCenter Protect;
    • Mid-Level Experience with Windows server builds and deployment;
    • Some Experience with Linux and knowledge of know basic commands and troubleshooting;
    • Basic host level network troubleshooting experience.;
    • Experience with Remedy, or another similar ticketing system is a plus;
    • Scripting experience with at least one scripting language and willing to learn PowerShell or others as required;
    • Must have higher than basic knowledge in at least one Non-Windows OS area (ie VMWare, SQL, Hadoop, AWS, Azure, Scripting, Linux, IIS, application development, etc.);
    • Must have a strong sense of team focus, partnership, and collaboration;
    • Possess a strong sense of ownership, urgency and the capacity to ensure a problem is not dropped, forgotten, or ignored;
    • Participate in departmental on-call rotation; and
    • Participate in scheduled and ad hoc system maintenance on infrastructure.
