Job Description Job Summary: The Clinic Cardiac Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering care to patients performing established nursing procedures while utilizing age-specific guidelines within a clinic environment. The cardiac nurse is primarily responsible for handling all pacemaker correspondence and billing.

  Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and bill all pacemaker checks
  • Run Pacemaker and EKG reports

  • Bill hospital echos and holsters

  • Triage walk-in and/or call-in patients and assess per approved protocols
  • Providing ongoing nursing care (assess, plan, intervention, evaluation) according to the age specific and developmental needs of the patient
  • Assuring quality of care through development, implementation and evaluation of professional nursing standards       
  • Determining priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs. Anticipating and recognizing changes in a patient's status and need for care       
  • Assessing patient, family and/or significant others educational needs and providing teaching/counseling         
  • Providing basic instruction for patient regarding routine procedures, treatments or disease processes      
  • Participating in quality assurance activities
  • Integrating health promotion and preventive aspects of care
  • Marginal Duties:        

  • Participating in community education programs
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned


  • Job RequirementsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) granted by the State of Louisiana

    • Must maintain State of Louisiana Registered Nurse license

    • Minimum one (1) year nursing experience (cardiac nursing required)

    • Previous nursing experience in an ambulatory care, urgent care or emergency department setting preferred.

    • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) granted by an approved American Heart Association

    • Verbal and written communication skills sufficient for effective communication.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • None

    Supervision Received:
    • Works under occasional supervision of the RN Supervisor and general supervision of the Physician and if applicable, Nurse Practitioner

      Working Conditions:
    • Overtime will be occasionally required
