Job Description Elevate’s customer, an Am Law 100 law firm, is looking for a Conflicts Supervisor who is responsible for the conflicts search and analysis process and will be expected to remain aware of the needs of the Firm and the Risk Management Department.  The Conflicts Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the conflicts search and analysis process.  The individual in this position will supervise conflicts identification and resolution for new business intake, new hire legal staff, and restructuring/debtor processes. The goals and major focus of the position will be quality of outcomes, workflow analysis/adjustments, and developing metrics and staffing plans.  This individual will work closely with all members of the Conflicts team, the New Business team, attorneys, and their secretaries.  This position will be responsible for mentoring the staff and maintaining and updating all training materials and other related documentation for the conflicts search and analysis process.  The Conflicts Supervisor will supervise the daily performance of the Conflicts Analyst(s), Conflicts Coordinator(s) and Conflicts Specialist(s).   This position reports to the Associate Director of New Business & Conflicts and is subject to all the same needs that may arise in aiding the Firm’s Office of the General Counsel, Senior Director Risk Management, and the Conflicts/Risk Management area in general.

Specificall you will:

  • Assist attorneys and staff in the identification and resolution of conflicts of interest; consult with attorneys, Office of the General Counsel and Risk Management team, as necessary, to receive guidance on the identification and resolution of conflicts of interest and business related issues discovered during the search and analysis process.
  • Supervise and participate in the review and clearance of all incoming lawyers, other legal personnel and staff.
  • Be responsible for overseeing the process of clearing new legal hires for conflicts of interest and facilitating the onboarding of partners. 
  • Oversee and assist with conflicts clearance and disclosure requirements related to the Firm’s debtor client representations including drafting of disclosures and schedules to be filed with the court. 
  • Supervise daily workflow to ensure that conflicts search and analysis needs are met for the department and Firm (pre-engagement, restructuring, new hires). 
  • Establish conflicts analysis protocols and monitor work product for consistency and accuracy of searching and analysis. 
  • Assist in coordinating the assignment and monitoring the progress of conflicts searching in the department (pre-engagement, restructuring, new hires). 
  • Oversee the organization and collaboration of large analysis projects. 
  • Constantly review, assess, recommend, and implement process, procedure, and technology improvements to ensure optimum customer service and efficiency. 
  • In conjunction with the Associate Director of New Business and Conflicts, manage staffing needs for the dedicated conflicts analysis team, including new positions, new hires, and terminations. 
  • Supervise, manage, and evaluate members of the team dedicated to conflicts analysis (pre-engagement, restructuring, and new hire). 
  • Organize training of new employees. Including documentation updates, on-gong training sessions, and scheduled peer review. Meet regularly with members of the team. 
  • Be available for urgent and confidential situations, including evenings and weekends. Be available 24/7 via mobile device. 
  • Work together with department management to deliver quarterly, annual, and ad hoc, performance, management, statistical, and other reports. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Experience:

  • 5-7 years of related experience, including conflicts searching or similar process  management/risk management experience required. 
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines and working in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Previous supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership abilities a plus.

  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Advanced degree, J.D. or M.B.A. preferred.
  • Studies in areas directly applicable to the duties described above (e.g. business administration, project management, management, paralegal/legal assistant, finance) desirable but not required depending upon other professional and educational experience.
