Job Description


This position provides strategic planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the Human Resource functions for the company. The Director also participates in policy and decision-making at the executive management level regarding proposed programs addressing human resource needs.

The right candidate will drive a proactive human capital plan that aligns with the business strategy.  The Director will be expected to have an in-depth understanding of the key business drivers and to proactively provide ideas and solutions for all user groups to enhance performance through the full employee lifecycle. Ensures prompt and professional responses to all requests for talent guidance and assistance.

 

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for employee relations, talent and performance management, organizational development, training and strategic initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Identify, create and drive strategic recommendations to meet the needs of the business.
  • Provide counsel and solutions on HR implications of business decisions.
  • Drive/facilitate the execution of long-term strategy and short-term tactics for talent and performance management activities.
  • Participate in creating and deploying the HR vision and business plan.  Manage associated budgets, timelines, resources and evolving priorities.
  • Provide coordination and oversight on delivery of a wide-range of HR programs and projects.
  • Manage a group of HR professionals.  Provide strategic direction, ensure successful execution of tactical elements, and coach staff to drive continued development.

    Job Requirements
    • Minimum of 12+ years of progressive HR Management experience
    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required (Master’s degree preferred)
    • Demonstrated program management capabilities. 
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, including proven success in building and leading a team of high performing HR professionals
    • Demonstrated strategic thinking, influencing, problem solving and decision making skills
    • Broad HR experience in a variety of HR disciplines, including but not limited to:  organizational development, HRIS, compliance, talent management, L&D, employee relations and staffing.
    • Professional HR certification desired
    • Retail experience, preferably with a multi-unit environment, a plus
    • Consulting background, a plus
    • International HR experience, a plus
