Job Description

GIS Engineering Specialist Role Summary:

The GIS Engineering Specialist will perform initial GIS quality assurance checks of pole data received from field engineering and will annotate necessary pole attachment data using GIS based software.

Additional Responsibilities:

The Make Ready Engineering Specialist will analyze GIS mapping-based data while working with several other related departments to ensure successful completion of project work is done in a timely and effective manner while also ensuring safety, quality and overall success. The Make Ready Engineering Specialist will perform final quality assurance check of internal pole permitting packages. This will include but is not limited to, review and redline of overview pole map with make ready analysis, review and redline of pole loading analysis reports, and review and redline of make ready remedies within the pole inventory MRE deliverable. The Make Ready Engineering Specialist will accompany the engineering management team to key meetings with respective pole/utility owners, to provide a knowledgeable OSP/Electrical Distribution presence and to maintain/initiate/facilitate a quality relationship with the client.

GIS experience in some capacity Engineering/Telecommunications background is a strong plus Experience and knowledge GIS based software Strong analytical/critical thinking capabilities Knowledge and ability to read, decipher and understand diagrams and drawings Must have an acute attention to detail (engineering and construction standards) and be solution minded
