Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Quality Control, the Director of Engineering, New Product Development leads Ancra International Cargo Control product development efforts to meet design requirements, schedule, and production readiness as established by the product development schedule. This position will work as a key member of Ancra’s management team to develop strategic plans that define the direction of new product development activity.

We are currently seeking a Senior Product Engineer-New Product Development-Cargo for our Erlanger, KY facility.


Key Responsibilities and Priorities:
  • Serve as the communication link between Operations, Sales, and Marketing for new products.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for meeting product development requirements, fulfilling product definition, meeting product and project cost goals, quality objectives, and time-to-market objectives.  Lead the delivery of new products for the company.
  • Facilitate the timely investigation, development and release of new products, assuring these development projects deliver products with high quality and within budget.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of projects that lead to product conception, definition, design, and release.
  • Develop, and ultimately implement strategic activities to improve the new product development process.
  • Maintain existing products through allocating design and engineering time when needed to meet customer expectations. Coordinate these efforts with sales, supply chain and engineering.
  • Responsible either directly, or indirectly through delegation, for all project management requirements for each NPD project. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Facilitate meetings effectively.
  • Maintain the technical service request list of priorities.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute detailed project schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate design review meetings.
  • Compile, record, and distribute required status reports, test results and other required documentation.
  • Maintain development related documentation.
  • Maintain the project history file.
  • Perform design reviews with key functional groups.
  • Develop and foster contacts with customers, technical experts, dealers, sales people, and regulatory agencies.


  • Job Requirements
    • B.S. degree in Business, Engineering or related field.
    • Min 15 years in product development within cargo design
    • Position will consult with sales, marketing, customers and finance.
    • Solid network and reputation in the cargo control business.
    • Ability and willingness to travel.

    The ideal candidate will be creative, have attention to detail, possess excellent project management skills and be able to influence outside of their direct control. This individual must articulate the vision and strategy for the business and create enthusiasm within the organization to achieve objectives. The ideal candidate has deep insights into technology trends within Cargo Control and adjacent technologies and has an analytical framework for evaluating the right balance between internal development and partnership. This role will lead by example with project management expertise and technical trouble-shooting, ideation and problem solving.
