Oversees Center-wide disability program. Identifies and meets the counseling needs of all assigned students through individual and group counseling sessions focusing on problems of substance use and abuse.  Designs and implements Center-wide substance program, which relates to the prevention of substance use and abuse.  Assumes major responsibility for in-service training of other Counselors in substance use and abuse counseling techniques.

Review applicants’ files and assist with disability accommodations during student enrollment process. Meet with students and enter disability accommodation plan and parameters into computerized tracking system (CIS) upon enrollment. Tracking, monitoring, and evaluating each students’ disability accommodations plan. Counsels and advises students with chemical dependency problems. Conducts education programs and provides counseling to decrease problems of substance use and abuse. Conducts in-service training sessions for Center staff as assigned. Evaluates students involved with chemical use and abuse and schedules students for urinalysis. Refers confirmed heavy substance users to outside treatment facilities.

Job Requirements


Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social work preferred with one year experience working as a Substance Abuse Counselor. Effective verbal and written communication skills, effective organizational skills, and effective interpersonal skills are required.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES: Must be certified in the State of Wisconsin as a Substance Abuse Counselor or nationally certified.


NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Mon. - Fri. 8am to 5pm (1 hour lunch break) OFF: Sat. & Sun.
