Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:        

Supervise the production of PTD products and the flow of material in the assigned areas and shifts to insure that quality, safety, and production requirements are met while maintaining positive employee relations and work environment.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

·         Supervise the daily activities and staff required to assemble PTD products with emphasis on positive employee relations and in accordance with Company policies, procedures and customer specifications.

·         Select and develop personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.

·         Prepare work schedules and assignments for employees according to production schedule requirements.

·         Plan, coordinate, conduct, and/or attend safety meetings, team meetings, production meetings, supervisor meetings, schedule meetings, and engineering meetings as required.

·         Support employee development through training, cross-training, and continuing education opportunities.

·         Provide informal and formal performance feedback with hourly employees to assess employee performance and help employees improve their performance. Conduct performance reviews timely and in accordance with MEPPI policy.

·         Administer corrective action; resolve employee complaints through impartial investigation, counseling, or corrective action as needed. 

·         Maintain and monitor employee records (disciplinary, attendance, safety, etc.) in a complete and accurate manner.

·         Ensure employees are trained in the appropriate safety rules following all safety procedures as required. Conduct all accident investigations involving assigned employees in a timely and thorough manner.

·         Work in conjunction with Training Administrator to design and develop training curriculum and instructional guides to educate and train direct staff.

·         Understand and utilize manufacturing data and information such as drawing, schedules, work instructions, quality check sheets and financial data to insure quality, cost and delivery.   

·         Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all work areas and insure employees are trained in 6S.

·         Promote a culture of process control and quality excellence.

·         Train, implement and sustain lean manufacturing principles.

·         Take an active role in continuous improvement and Kaizen.

·         Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.

·         Further the goals and positive, professional image of the division Manufacturing Department by acting as a liaison between production personnel and other departments to gain information, resolve problems, and enhance relations.

·         Know PTD’s Quality and Environmental Policies and be able to fully discuss their importance and how they impact work.

THE NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

·         Supervise unscheduled work (maintenance, prototypes, repairs, etc.).

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

·         Bachelor Degree in technical or business field plus three to five years’ experience in manufacturing processes with exposure to lean manufacturing techniques, or equivalent education and experience

·         Developed verbal and written communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal and group presentation skills.

·         Broad knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts.

·         Detailed knowledge of fabrication and assembly techniques, processes, and methods.

·         Developed technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and electronics applications.

·         General computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office and MRP systems.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS OF THE WORKPLACE:

·         Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings and to use inspection tools such as tape measures, scales, levels, micrometers, calipers, etc.

·         Ability to operate powered equipment, such as fork truck and overhead crane.

·         Ability to use office equipment, such as: PC, photocopier, fax machine, etc.

·         Ability to stand, walk, sit and stoop for extended periods of time.
