Responsible for supervising a team of regional dispatchers and regional dispatch center operations.  Responsible for training and supporting dispatchers, ensuring their job knowledge and performance meets company standards.  Acts as a mentor to dispatchers and provides guidance as needed to dispatchers and chauffeurs/drivers.  Observes, analyzes and governs dispatch issues to include both chauffeur-related and dispatcher-related behaviors.  Monitors daily dispatch workflow assuring equitable distribution of work to chauffeurs/drivers. Working in conjunction with managers of the subsidiaries served by the Regional Dispatch Center, secures and records chauffeur availability, maintaining the best utilization of fleet.  Maintains focus on achieving company goals and satisfying customers’ expectations.  Devotes majority of time to supervisory responsibilities, engaging in dispatch work primarily for Next-Day and Pre-assignments.  Engages in other dispatch work only on an as-needed basis, such as for emergency situations, and to maintain awareness of dispatch functionality.

    Job Requirements

    Education:     High School Diploma or GED  and 2 years of college, or equivalent work experience

          required.  College degree preferred.

    Experience:   At least 2 years of direct dispatch experience, with at least 2 years of experience in       operations-related management with responsibility for supervising staff of at least 6       people.


    • Well-defined spoken and written communication skills.  Demonstrates ability to be easily understood by others and is able to produce routine business correspondence, with ability to edit and proof correspondence and reports for accuracy and clarity.
    • Proficient in the use of MS Office, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
    • Demonstrates and applies a firm knowledge of best practices associated with business analysis and internal control definition and evaluation
    • Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of how to monitor productivity of staff.
    • Demonstrates effective supervisory and staff motivational skills.
    • Demonstrates logical and effective problem solving skills, including development of preventive actions and procedures so similar problems do not recur
    • Demonstrates good working knowledge of the company’s computer applications for operations.
    • Demonstrated skill in sound judgment and decision-making.
    • Organized and structured – sets priorities and regularly plans ahead.
    • Able to effectively use root cause analysis techniques for problem solving.
    • Demonstrates keen observation skills and a keen eye for detail.
