Job Description Engineered Wood Production/Back Up Driver Summary:

Wausau Supply Company EWP Production/Back Up Driver position is responsible for quality control, sorting and maintaining flow of materials through the distribution system. It is the responsibility of the EWP Production/Back Up Driver position to be aware of all distribution goals and anticipate problems that could impact long term goals, including quality control and establishing high standards of workmanship. In order to be effective in the EWP Production/Back Up Driver position, the individual must be fluent with communication and it is imperative that positive relations with all internal levels of the organization remain uncompromised.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include, (but not limited to):

  • Machining operation competencies
  • Interpret orders and assemble job packs
  • Ability to utilize hand tools, chain saws and wood unit chain saw
  • Maintain knowledge of materials and processes
  • Ensure product standards are met and monitor quality control
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure
  • Responsible for machine set-up & general machine operation
  • Operate an overhead crane
  • Receives and reads order to identify items to be pulled
  • Verifies stock availability and prepares items for shipment
  • Enters data and verifies records of incoming and outgoing product
  • Assists with loading/unloading trucks and rail cars
  • Follow daily production schedule, including changes that may occur during the course of the shift
  • Sorts and moves product interdepartmentally while operating and using a variety of material handling equipment, including but not limited to forklift, hand-helds, racks, etc
  • Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition to ensure truck is safe
  • Check Load and secure to D.O.T. Regulations. Make sure the load is safe and legal before moving
  • Drive truck safely and legally to customer locations and return
  • Open curtains, unstrap product, count and check product for damage and shortages
  • Assist receivers in unloading and loading the truck
  • Maintains driver logs and inspection reports according to D.O.T. regulations
  • Maintain a professional image at all times
  • Must be able to be forklift certified to aid in loading, unloading and general warehouse work
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule
  • Develops and maintains a clean, safe working environment and ensures participation in safety programs and required trainings
  • Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principals of safety for self and others into daily activities
  • Performs all duties in a manner that promotes team concept and encourages team effort
  • Performs other duties as assigned that would lead to successful operation of department, team and/or company mission

  • Job Requirements Engineered Wood Production/Back Up Driver Qualifications:

    Education / Experience / Skills:

    • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Warehouse hand-held ERP technology – experience a plus but not required – training will be provided
    • Must possess a Class A CDL with air brake endorsement
    • Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical
    • Must pass a DOT Pre-employment drug test
    • Must be able to be forklift certified

    Working Demands / Physical Requirements:

      Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds:

      • 45% of the day using chain saw (20-25 lbs. saw)
      • 45% of the day carrying & stacking wood per orders
      Ability to stand/bend/walk for long periods of time:

      • 90% of the day is on standing /walking
      Ability to withstand heat and cold during the summer and winter months:

      • Depends on weather conditions at location
      Must be computer literate and comfort level of working with computers:

      • 10% of the day using computer

      Operations Manager.
