The College Internship Program (CIP) is a comprehensive post-secondary support program for young adults on the Autism Spectrum, with Asperger’s, ADHD and other Learning Differences. We offer full-year individualized academic, social, career and life skills support. Our Mission is to inspire independence and expand the foundation on which young adults can build happy and productive lives.

Our Berkeley Center location is currently accepting resumes for a Career Coordinator. This position is primarily responsible for providing vocational and career advising to CIP students as needed. The Coordinator of a department is expected to lead their team in a positive, directed and structured manner to ensure that students are receiving the services required and supervise their team to make sure everyone is accountable in the following through for verification of department quality. The goal is to locate potential internships for students and mentor students in those sites by performing the following duties.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Implements and assists in the development of a comprehensive vocational/career-building curriculum.
  • Teaches vocational/career-building and pre-vocational classes.
  • Provides career counseling.
  • Locates internship sites and works with the sponsor/employers to arrange for student placements.
  • Supervises students at any internship sites as needed.
  • Fosters ongoing relationships with Internship and job sites.
  • Involves students in community services and tracks student’s community service hours, ensuring students meet the community service requirement.
  • Participates in new student tour interviews, and information sessions as needed as part of the Admissions team.
  • Strives for of 100% Internship/Job placement.
  • Trains and supervises Career Counselors, C-step instructors and Job Coaches as necessary.
  • Actively involved with Experience CIP weekends, Convocations, and networks with parents and community leaders.
  • Job Requirements

    Skills, Education and Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree required. Special Education, Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services desirable.
    • 2-3 years of experience working in related field.
    • Demonstrated strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, planning, prioritizing, influencing, and organizational and team facilitation skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Belief in and knowledge of the potential abilities and skills of people living with learning and attention differences, Asperger's, high functioning autism, and related hidden disabilities.
    • Experience and/or exposure to job placement/career decision and direction orientation skills training.
    • Experience working in private school environments, working with referral sources, families, and direct services with clients and students desirable.
    • Some travel may be required.
