Job Description KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A)   Area Board Management: Collaborates with JA program staff to ensure South Dakota community board members are meeting and managing the JA processes and timelines for growth and sustainability in their respected areas. Supports and encourages South Dakota volunteer community board members to raise funds and awareness by meeting budget goals.  

B)   Board Development: Collaborates with JA program staff and community business leaders on board member roles and responsibilities relating to funding/program goals and board retention.  Adheres to the local community strategic plan and identifies/assigns board member tasks as necessary.  Communicates with community board chair to ensure the organizational structure, size, and personnel meet the community needs.  Provides assistance in identifying leadership for appropriate board positions.  Works with area boards to develop relationships and recruits new members. Provide training to new board members with outstanding phone presence and an outgoing personality.

C)   Annual Fund Drive: Builds trust and relationships with business and personal investors. Uses sales skills to makes calls to ask for annual donations during the fund drive campaign. Ensures continued funding growth in all markets.  Increases number of business investors and amount of giving annually.  Maintains necessary documentation for various fund raising campaigns.  Makes certain that investor stewardship plan is executed.

D)   Grants and Fund Raising Campaigns:  Proactively researches and identifies foundations, individuals and organizations to fund program growth and special projects.  Writes grants and provides the necessary tools including proposals, brochures, and personal contact for solicitation.  Provides follow up for all existing proposals and grants received.  Must have creative writing skills. 

Job Requirements

Requirements:  A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and strong interpersonal and sales skills.  Using enthusiasm and out-of-the-box thinking to develop and manage relationships, motivate executive-level business leaders and possess an energetic, outgoing personality is a must. Our candidate will have proven proficiency in communication with a positive phone presence and proper email etiquette. Must have the ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be a team-player, have excellent organizational abilities, and the willingness to be flexible.  Other requirements include some lifting, a valid driver’s license and auto insurability, computer skills, and in-state travel to assigned South Dakota JA communities.
