Job Description

KU Endowment, Lawrence, KS, is accepting applications for Development Director and Team Leader, School of Business, fund-raising position responsible for the organization, implementation, and direction of a comprehensive development program for raising private gifts to The Kansas University Endowment Association in support of the School of Business and the University of Kansas.

The individual in this position is expected to embrace KU Endowment’s stated core values – passion for KU, partnership with donors, perpetual support for KU, and a people-centered approach – and demonstrate support for them through professional interactions and activities.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Solicits major gifts in support of the stated needs of the School.

  • Directs programs for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective and current major gift donors to the School of Business and the University of Kansas working with the dean, department chairs, KU Endowment officers and professional staff, University administrators, faculty, and volunteer leaders.

  • Coordinates preparation and development of major gift proposals to School of Business prospects for presentation by the University Chancellor, the Dean of the School, KU Endowment staff, and volunteer leaders.

  • Position requires an extensive amount of time out of the office traveling to meet development goals.

  • Manages, monitors and mentors the Development Officer supporting the School in the process of acquiring gifts at all levels.

  • Assists with supervision of the Development Assistant who provides administrative support for this constituent area.

  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Senior Development Staff.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    Training and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three to five years of professional, major gift fund-raising experience in higher education required. Prior experience managing major gift fundraisers is preferred. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
