Job Description

Instrument Inspector needed in Geismar, LA

The Instrument Inspector will:

  • Perform work activities efficiently while continuously looking for cost-saving opportunities.
  • Become familiar with Quality Control Plan.
  • Provide effective support for project execution.
  • Interact closely with designated operations, projects organization, and technical staff.
  • Utilize corporate standards (DEPs, EFAs, MOC, etc.) on hardware design and specification changes in order to verify a cost effective and safe implementation.
  • Provide technical support to instrument and electrical technicians for project related activities (loop checks, O-7’s, installation/commissioning, etc.) and turnaround planning (recommend, technically assure, and implement proposed solutions).
  • Provide technical and quality control review of all impacts to instrument and electrical technicians associated with maintenance, repairs, and plant changes implemented in the Production Module or Projects.
  • Provide monitoring performance and verify function test schedule compliance for Instrumented Protective Functions (IPF).
  • Conduct follow-ups on IPF trips (FIMs) in order to verify proper mitigation and elimination of root cause for trips.
  • Maintain and update instrumentation documentation (spec sheets, PM plans, loop folders, BOMs).
  • Participate in SIFPro studies in production module or project.
  • Contribute to proactive maintenance and cost avoidance through RCM Living.
  • Program Review as it applies to scope of hardware being introduced through projects.
  • Manage and make measurable progress on numerous activities for multiple customers simultaneously.
  • Manage fluctuating priorities dependent on current needs.
  • Identify and correct system problems.

  • Job Requirements

    The ideal Instrument Inspector will have:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience as an instrument inspector in the petrochemical industry.
    • Project field instrument experience.
    • Control loop testing/inspection experience.
    • Compliance with site/company/project safety standards and culture.
    • Proficient in reading mechanical drawings, blueprints, isometrics, P&IDs, etc.
    • Ability to understand field changes and red-line drawings.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
    • Intermediate/advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Familiar with MOC process and PSSR (pre-startup safety reviews) process.
