Job Description

The commodity analyst will be responsible for monitoring commodity markets, developing analysis, position reporting, and assisting in risk management strategies for commodity markets. The role will include data collection, in depth analytics, presentation development, and interface with internal teams for objectives alignment and support.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Supports Commodity Risk Management through the creation of analytical models and strategies to hedge risk across multiple markets.
  •  

  • Collects and interprets domestic and global commodity market information and statistics to determine potential impact on NDCP commodity values.
  •  

  • Analyzes and creates derivative strategies to hedge risk across multiple commodities.
  •  

  • Interprets market trends and creates commodity market forecasts looking forward 3-24 months.
  •  

  • Monitors current hedge coverage, P&L, and daily market activity. 
  •  

  • Participates in and networks with commodity/food industry associations and trade participants to create maximum organization exposure to industry information and trends.
  •  

  • Works with the Strategic Sourcing team to align commodity positions with existing contracts and upcoming RFP’s.
  •  

  • Assists Commodity Risk Management Team and Strategic Sourcing on special assignments, programs, presentations etc.
  •  

  • Assists with monthly newsletter providing commodities updates.
  •  

  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Job Requirements
    • BS/BA/MBA or Equivalent

     

    • 1-3 years of related experience in Derivative markets, Quantitative modeling, Commodity Purchasing and/or Risk Management

     

     

    • Strong math aptitude and analytic skill sets are required Knowledge in coffee, wheat, oils, dairy, sugar, resin, paper, diesel is desired
