Job Summary:

Deputy Program Manager (DPM) assists the Program Manager with day-to-day oversight and management of contract and program requirements and helps to ensure the timeliness of deliverables and the quality of products. The DPM assists with coordinating meetings, managing communication with the customer, and managing program resources. Additional responsibilities include building and enhancing Program Management knowledge within the team, creating processes and supporting documentation, and client reporting, such as dashboards, status reports, and schedules.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the coordination, schedule, work management plan, status reporting, and issue/resolution tracking for Statement of Work and assignments

  • Assists with the preparation of plans and strategies to meet contract and program metrics and requirements

  • Assists in achieving and maintaining high customer satisfaction with Government program and contract staff

  • Prepares reports detailing workload progress in meeting contract and program metrics and requirements and develops corrective actions as required

  • Assists with monitoring and reporting task order performance against contract and program metrics and requirements

  • Participates in hiring staff by interviewing candidates, as requested, and providing recommendations for hire to the Program Manager and the hiring manager (Division Director)

  • Identifies training, development, and support required to complete contract tasks on time and within budget

  • Assists with managing workflow on the task order

  • Supports and maintains effective communication with project team and other stakeholders, as required. Participates and represents Strategic at conferences and speaking events, as requested

  • Acts as a mentor to members of program staff

  • Participates in and contributes to the quality management system

  • Serves as the acting program manager when manager is not available

  • Completes other duties as assigned

  • Job Requirements

    Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent education and experience required

    • RN active license required

    • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in project management

    • PMP-certified or willingness to obtain certification within one year of employment or as agreed upon with manager

    • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience required

    • Proven leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and coordinate work assignments

    • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

    • Ability to effectively build relationships and interact with customer, other stakeholders, Division Directors/management personnel, and a diverse project team

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, Project, and PowerPoint

    • Ability to sit and work at a computer for an extended period using repetitive motion
    • Ability to have close visual acuity to prepare complex data and figures, view a computer screen, or complete extensive reading and research
    • Ability to occasionally travel to meetings and business sites
    • Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet tight deadlines
    • Ability to work regular hours with predictable attendance on the job
