Job Description

Install, monitor, calibrate and remove the Ignition Interlock Device in accordance with state regulations from program participants’ vehicles. Duties include collection of data from the Ignition Interlock Device via computer downloads, calibration of the device to make sure it is within state regulated limits, collection of fees, inventory control, filing, scheduling of appointments and maintaining a professional and safe work environment. Additional duties and skills will include, but not be limited to, car mechanic skills (wire identification, soldering, etc.), electrical systems training, and perform troubleshooting associated with these tasks.

  • Install, monitor/calibrate and remove the Draeger Ignition Interlock Device from client’s car(s). Download client data from ignition interlocks as scheduled, while collecting payments and completing associated documentation as per SOPs.
  •  Uses Draeger computer systems complete all data processing, billing and collection for each service performed as per SOP.   Correspond with corporate support staff via email as needed.
  • Provide customer training and troubleshooting.   Serve as primary customer contact for locations’ clients. Answer all incoming telephone calls expediently, transferring calls to staff or taking complete messages when appropriate. Offers 24-hour emergency customer support as scheduled (i.e., on-call).
  •  Independently manage daily schedule, setting client calibration appointments, removal appointments and accommodating emergency situations.   Perform mobile service calls where appropriate. Generally responsible for locations of approximately 250 clients.
  •  Maintain clear and accurate records and files. Prepare daily bank deposits, as required, along with daily reconciliations.   Ensure all client files remain in a locked file cabinet and all client data remains secure at all times as per SOP.
  •  Prepare and maintain all equipment and supplies, including inventory of interlocks, handsets, dry gas calibration supplies and I/Os.
  •  Maintain the Draeger image of a clean, safe and organized work area. No personal items allowed on the walls or in the work bays.
  •  Assist in troubleshooting interlock device and vehicle wiring questions as needed. Support other locations as needed.
  •  Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
  • Job Requirements


    •  High School diploma or the equivalent in education, training and experience.

    Related Experience:

    •  Customer service experience and experience in the automotive mechanic and/or electronic field strongly preferred. Spanish as a second language is helpful.

    Special Competencies or Certifications:

    • Valid driver’s license required. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. State licensing as Device Service Representative, where applicable, provided by Draeger. Ability to trouble-shoot problems that may arise with the computer programs or the client’s vehicle. Good problem solving and customer service skills and willingness to accept new challenges. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks. Ability to handle several requests or calls at once and maintain a pleasant and cheerful manner. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel). Math skills and analytical thinking capability. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

     Work Environment / Conditions:

    •  Most work will be performed in an automotive service bay/office. Some work will be in non-climate controlled environment and in tight spaces.
    •  Some work, including off-site calls, will be performed where needed, involving routine traffic hazards.
