Job Description

The Chemical Procurement Manager will report to the Director or Purchasing and Supplier Management and will be responsible for managing raw material commodity strategies and holding suppliers accountable for top performance in the assigned categories. This position will support the plant Operations and will work to ensure the continuous supply of Chemicals.

Our client is a multi billion dollar global materials manufacturing leader with operations globally. This division of the business is based in Rhode Island and services the Semiconductor industry.

Description

The Chemical Procurement Manager will report to the Director or Purchasing and Supplier Management and will be responsible for managing raw material commodity strategies and holding suppliers accountable for top performance in the assigned categories. This position will support the plant Operations and will work to ensure the continuous supply of Chemicals, Packaging and MRO at best quality and price.

Additionally, the Chemical Procurement Manager will work closely with other departments within the company (Finance, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Facilities, etc.) to provide leadership in problem solving, price negotiations, cost containment strategies and enhancing supplier relationships.

  • Owns Procurement and supplier relationships to support the plant's operations
  • Prepares and leads price negotiation strategies
  • Works to mitigate increases and proactively lower prices
  • Responsible to manage all strategic and tactical Sourcing tasks, site purchasing operations, and supplier meetings for spend categories including Chemicals, Packaging and Filters, and MRO
  • Evaluates potential and existing suppliers based on the required performance specifications, quality and cost
  • Proactively assesses the risk of supply interruption situations and puts in place remedial action and corrective measures
  • Participates in Supplier Quality Audits as needed to support Supplier Quality function
  • Leads early R&D involvement to design and target viable suppliers
  • Profile

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Masters degree preferred
  • Progressive experience (min 8 years) in the industrial manufacturing industry - preference for experience in the Semiconductor and/or Chemicals manufacturing industry
  • Sourcing experience with domestic and international vendor sourcing, vendor certification, and terms & contract negotiation/administration
  • Strong negotiation abilities and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated competence in Excel, ERP systems, and software applications (preference for SAP)
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills and independent ability to solve problems
  • Ability to travel to suppliers and other sites
