Position Overview

Based in Jefferson, GA and reporting directly to the Operations Controller, the Controller, Regional Distribution Centers (DC), will serve as the leader of the RDC locations and inventory, and have responsibility for a variety of financial oversight and support activities.  The Regional DC Controller is principally responsible for the ongoing maintenance of accurate, timely, and transparent financial and management accounting, reporting and controls for all RDC’s.  In addition, the Controller will serves as the lead for the RDC locations and act as the principal accountant for the Jefferson DC.

The Regional DC Controller is responsible for accurate planning, forecasting and robust analysis for the RDC site in support of the business goals and objectives.  This position will oversee the monthly closing cycle for the RDC’s sites within the Group and will be responsible to interface regularly with various members of the operations and RDC management team as well as the Business Group Controller to articulate results with clarity and transparency and maintain a strong controllership environment.  This position must ensure reporting compliance with Company Policies & Procedures as well as U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and maintain an effective control environment ensuring compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the activities of the RDC and Jefferson MOD Center locations and inventory management.
  • Manage the financial performance of the distribution centers.
  • Prepare Daily/Weekly/Monthly scorecards and metric to support DC operations.
  • Management of the Cycle Count Team and Process.
  • Management of the physical inventory process, analysis of the results, maintenance of the PI forms and PI accrual forms.
  • Compile data, prepare analysis, FCST and review the Excess and Obsolete Inventory reconciliation, ensuring compliance with GAAP and corporate policy’s.
  • Complete PPV analysis with Corporate Sourcing.
  • Complete LIFO Analysis, purchase complete costing blocked documents, LCM Qtrly analysis and Billing Due List.
  • Directly responsible for processing  the monthly financial close for RDC, including timely and thorough completion of journal entries, maintenance of the closing checklist, and detailed analysis of results versus forecast, prior year, and plan.
  • Key finance business partner to the Operations Controller, Director of Operations and Group leadership team, providing financial leadership to the operations in the planning and execution of business goals and objectives; and in the effective management of plant costs and inventory control.
  • Prepare the annual operating plan, monthly forecasts, periodic goals & objectives, financial reconciliations, reports and analysis for plant & business management, including variance analysis, cost control reporting and recommendations.
  • Monthly forecast preparation the RDC’s/MOD, reviewing and validating carefully prior to loading into Hyperion Financial Management or providing to Group FP&A team.
  • Informs management of results and recommend corrective actions to address unfavorable trends and variances.
  • Interprets, implements and monitors corporate policies and procedures, ensure financials are reported in compliance with Company Policy & Procedure as well as U.S. GAAP.
  • Assists with audits by internal audit, external audit and other audits and reviews as necessary.
  • Monitors, maintains, and enhances the system of internal controls that safeguards company asset and provides for integrity and propriety of financial transactions and activities, including periodic physical inventory counts and fixed asset verifications.
  • Ensures compliance with local, Group, and Corporate internal controls and SOX policies.
  • Evaluates and approves business capital appropriation requests (AFE’s) prior to local, Group and Corporate management approval and monitors ongoing capital project spending.
  •  Monitors and reports purchase commitments and spending for all capital programs.
  • Conducts follow-up audits to ensure compliance.
  • Ensures internal controls are properly designed and operating effectively to appropriately safeguard and accurately report plant fixed assets.
  • Manages the deployment of productivity cost saving and other programs that provide operating economies and improve profitability.
  • Provides mentorship and financial guidance to the local finance team as well as the Business and Operations team members.
  • Provide management with daily, weekly and monthly strategic tools, monitors & reports to help drive well-informed business decisions.
  • Serve as policy and compliance champion within the site and ensure proper compliance, training, roll-out, and maintenance.
  • Responsible for on-going compliance with and maintenance of the Signature Authority Matrix
  • Ability to motivate, energize, manage, mentor and develop employees
  • Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • 8+ years of accounting experience with 3+ years in a manufacturing environment as a Plant Controller, Accounting Manager or Cost Accountant
  • 3+ years supervisory/managerial experience
  • A combination of experience from Public Accounting and Corporate Accounting is preferred.
  • Must be familiar with requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act; Section 404.
  • Experienced in working in a matrix managed environment a plus.
  • SAP experience (finance, controlling, manufacturing and supply chain) | Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) a plus
