Job Description

Donan, established in 1947 and an industry leader in Forensic Engineering, Fire Investigation and additional Claims Services, has an immediate opening for an experienced Collections Specialist to join our Accounting team at the corporate office located in Louisville, KY.     • Position Summary:

    Responsible for collection of past due accounts. This position reports to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor.

    FLSA Status: Non-exempt

    Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Make collection calls in a fast paced, goal oriented collections department.
  • Work with regional managers and project managers to resolve discrepancies or client issues.
  • Establish and maintain files and records.
  • Maintain appearance standards as outlined in departmental and company policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both our internal and external customers.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Other duties as directed by management.


    • Position Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree is a plus, will also consider a combination of education and hands on experience.
  • Must have at least 2-3 years of hands on experience working in AR, specifically collections, within a corporate accounting department.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and exhibit a positive attitude at the work place.
  • Professed in mathematical abilities.
  • Excellent overall verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have good overall computer skills with the ability to work with Microsoft Office.
  • Must be trustworthy, confidential, honest, approachable, responsive, helpful and communicative.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to assist in other areas when necessary.
  • Must display good customer service, competency in grammar coupled with strong ability to follow instruction.
  • Ability to work efficiently with little or no supervision.


    • Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to stand on one's feet for prolonged periods of time.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Frequently required to sit at a computer and look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
