Project Description: This intern position will support the Systems Engineering Department and will be part of the engineering team working to support daily support of existing systems. Intern will work with engineers to identify and execute value add projects into the Smyrna, TN Manufacturing environment that will either reduce time or cost or increase the efficiency of the manufacturing process.

Focus may include: New Model programs supporting Systems Engineering Models = MY 17 Leaf, MY 16 Altima and MY16 Pathfinder and QX60 Activities =Project Requirements, Software specifications, software development, software integration into production, documentation and launch support.

The student in this position will gain a significant amount of experience in a critical part of the automotive business. The intern will gain:
  • Project management experience Real world software development and integration experience
  • Software solution reviews with internal customers (presentation and communication skills)
  • Software that is developed in this role will support production operation 24 hours / day and up to six (6) days per week
  • Executing projects with real budget constraints
  • Practical work experience in a mission critical production environment where system and software performance is vital

  • Qualifications:
  • Must be able to function autonomously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with limited direct supervision and be able to provide clear recommendations and feedback
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to ask "why" and challenge the norm
  • Interest and/or experience in software development, web development, computer hardware, controls and automation, and/or manufacturing

  • Education:
  • Must be currently enrolled in school and pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Rising junior or senior preferred
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
