Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join their team in Englewood, Colorado (CO).The ideal candidate for the position of Senior Network Engineer will have proven experience designing, deploying, and managing large-scale enterprise networks, with focus on performance optimization and scalability, and will have the following areas of responsibility:
  • Administration: Managing and monitoring the network infrastructure, providing troubleshooting support, and ensuring documentation is accurate
  • Engineering: Proposing and implementing system enhancements, including software and hardware updates, that will improve performance, reliability, and scalability of the network
  • Architecture: Defining, designing, implementing, and evolving network solutions
  • Project Management: Managing technical projects within the scope of the Network Team.
  • Major Duties and Responsibilities:Perform activities required to plan, deploy, manage, support, and scale a mission-critical 24x7 IP network in a rapidly expanding, global environment:
  • Provide subject-matter expertise regarding network planning, technical architectures, models and standards
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve different types of network problems
  • Proactively analyze vulnerabilities in the network and provide strategy/options for mitigation
  • Manage all network hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance, including coordinating carriers and circuit installations, and related software configuration and monitoring tools

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Masters or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
    • Extensive knowledge of data communication systems, including hardware, software and applications
    • Extensive practical knowledge of all layers of the OSI network model
    • Strong ability to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor network issues in the LAN and WAN
    • Knowledge of Quality of Service, IPSec, Multicast and load balancing techniques are also essential
    • Must have proficient knowledge of core networking protocols, such as: TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, DHCP, ARP, Domain Name System (DNS) and SNMP, and experience with successfully applying these protocols to solve complex networking problems
    • Hands-on experience with the networking products of major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Brocade, Juniper, BigIP, A10), along with strong Unix/Linux/Storage systems knowledge and proficiency with the related disciplines
    • Hands on experience with protocol analyzer tools and debugging tools
    • Must be able to manage multiple tasks, projects, and initiatives with different priorities at the same time
    • This position requires an individual with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with highly technical peers, and the capability to manage work load among changing priorities
    • Demonstrated ability to stay up-to-date on current technologies and recent developments in relevant technologies, and to evaluate new technologies and promote the benefits associated with their adoption
    • Understanding of scripting languages such as Perl, Python and/or PHP/CGI is preferred
    • Hands-on experience working with various cloud vendors a plus
