POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the Team Manager, the Crew Leader ensures overall performance of packaging lines to include safety, quality, efficiency, sanitation, GMP’s, project completion, material waste reduction, material yield, and process reliability improvement.  The Crew Leader will drive and lead continuous improvement to enable the team to achieve their goals.  The Crew Leader must be flexible and attentive to detail to work in a fast-paced environment. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordination of line team activities with special emphasis on safety, process reliability and training
  • Actively participate on Continuous Improvement teams and promote participation in the CI process
  • Training team members utilizing training within industry as well as developing and implementing use of standard operating procedures
  • Scheduling line team vacations and arranging for manpower coverage
  • Actively coach and develop others through daily two-way communication
  • Daily communication with Team Managers
  • Ensuring product meets quality standards
  • Coordinate problem solving
  • Resolving minor mechanical and processing problems and making necessary adjustments to keep line running
  • Performing job tasks of other team members of jobs of equal or lower grades
  • Ability to gain competency in core work
  • Promote teamwork among team members
  • Leading meetings for production tracking, problem solving and team development      
  • Building team member commitment
  • Lead plant safety initiatives and ensure a safe work environment
  • Support and lead the growth of McCormick’s High Performance Work System
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  •    High school diploma or equivalent required.
  •    At least 5 years of packaging/ production experience preferred.
  •    Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others required.
  •    Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and resolve minor mechanical and processing problems required.
  •    Proven leadership experience. Ability to coordinate the activities of others required.
  •    Strong interpersonal skills required.
  •    Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form required.
  •   Ability to facilitate teamwork required.
  •   Ability to effectively run meetings required.
  •   Ability to work overtime / weekends as required.
  •   Ability to train others required.
  •   Thorough understanding of SAP preferred.
