As a Security Officer with Covenant, you will many times be the first person that people interact with at an assigned client site.  Maintaining a positive environment and experience will be one of the primary responsibilities of this role.  In addition, the ideal Security Officer will observe and report activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the safety of client property and personnel; while making periodic tours to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.

  • Makes periodic patrols to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment.

  • Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.

  • Controls access to client site or facility through the admittance process.

  • Patrols assigned on foot or in vehicle; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.

  • Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations.

  • Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents.

  • Prepares logs and reports as required.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must be 21 years of age.

  • Must have a reliable means of communication (i.e., pager or phone) and transportation (public or private).

  • Must have a reliable means of transportation (private or public).

  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States.

  • Must be willing to participate in the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.

  • Must have good organizational skills.

  • Physical/Mental Demands

  • Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.

  • Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Keyboarding, basic computer usage and operating controls.

  • Seeing, hearing, speaking and writing clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients.

  • Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for 6 hours or more and may involve climbing stairs, walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.

  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stopping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.

  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.

  • Close vision, distant vision and ability to focus.

  • Depending on the location, operation of a vehicle used for patrols.

  • On occasion, may be required to perform stressful and physical activity.

  • Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
