Job Description


Job Purpose:

The Payroll Director is responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of all payroll functions to include high level standards while in compliance with all state and federal regulations. The director is charged with the payroll function for all properties including properties in Hawaii, California and Florida, as well as, other properties in other states that may join our portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:

1.

Ensure payroll processing is running smoothly and accurately. Establishes and implements procedures to improve business processes and gain efficiencies.

2.

Directly responsible for the payroll department’s running structure and to provide oversight to ensure efficient customer service, assess operational risk and manage the vendor relationships.

3.

Serves as the System Administrator for the two payroll related systems, PeopleSoft, and Kronos. Involved in systems upgrades and user testing.

4.

Guarantees payroll tax payments are strictly in compliance with appropriate local, state and federal tax laws.

5.

Establishes and implements policies on such matters as discrepancy payments and other payroll related operating procedures.

6.

Ensures the Pay policies are consistently being applied and is updated accordingly.

7.

Sustains a strong association between human resources and finance/accounting to guarantee that their payroll procedures, information and needs are aligned for optimum efficiency.

8.

Leads the team on all Payroll projects and ensures timely delivery of assigned initiatives.

9.

Reviews payroll reports for accuracy and validate data to ensure job costs are properly captured to appropriate cost centers.

10.

Keeps up with the ever-changing environment and continues to improve workflow within the department.

11.

Assures compliance with federal and multi-state laws and regulations.

12.

Create queries and reports in PeopleSoft and Kronos for the team to streamline payroll functions and assist with data analysis.

13.

Supervise and Train Payroll Team at Corporate Headquarters. Conducts other payroll related training to our customers.

14.

Serves as a liaison and the main contact person between corporate and properties. Manages service providers/vendors in support of payroll processing and payroll tax filing.

15.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor degree/diploma in Business or equivalent additional experience. Accounting degree from an accredited college or university highly desirable.

Experience

Seven or more years’ experience in Payroll with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Director/Manager’s role. Candidates should possess strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Proficiency with MS Office is expected. Candidates with PeopleSoft and Kronos experience are desired. Prior experience with executing and evaluation of internal controls targeted at minimizing operational risks.

Licenses/Certifications

Certified Payroll Professional certificate preferred but is not required.
