Job Description Job Description The Computer Technician operates and performs component-level scheduled and unscheduled repair, operation, modification, alignment, and assessment on all assigned mission computer equipment and peripherals to meet mission availability standards and in accordance with system technical orders, manuals and directives. Ensures computer output products are generated, controlled, and properly distributed to data users. Acts as Maintenance Monitor Console Operator (MMCO) when required and immediately responds to Crew Commander/Crew Chief (CMDR/CCH) for site reporting events and equipment/system malfunctions. Continuously monitors mission computer systems, responds immediately to malfunctions, and keeps CMDR/CCH informed of real-time equipment status. Uses diagnostic routines to identify failed components; replaces and repairs same. Utilizes computer printouts to assess system status and troubleshoot errors. Utilizes a wide variety of test equipment in the performance of maintenance. Analyzes system data and provides recommendations to resolve computer system degradation and failures. Maintains the magnetic media library and ensures all requirements for handling, storage and disposition of magnetic media are met. Supports the system engineer’s request for analysis products on a routine or urgent basis. Performs Integrated Maintenance Data System entries IAW applicable documents. Follows all communications, operational and physical security requirements for the generation, handling, marking, controlling, protecting, and disposition of classified material and information. Maintains records, logs, files, and prepares reports. Controls government assets. Performs functional quality control duties and participates in the training program. Maintains USAF technical order library, work center tool inventory, and performs as work center TMDE coordinator. Drafts new local procedures when required. Performs additional duties as assigned by the foreman and/or supervisor/manager. Position requires shift duty. This is a union position.Typical Education & Experience Completion of a formal military or recognized civilian basic electronics course and one or more of the following qualifications:

Completion of civilian or Air Force mainframe computer maintenance technician course and 2 years' experience as a mainframe computer maintenance and operations technician in an operational mission environment;

or 1 year experience as a mainframe computer maintenance and operations technician on CYBER and MODCOMP computer systems;

or 5 years' demonstrated digital electronics technician maintenance experience along with 5 years' computer operations experience in an active real-time mission environment similar to the AN/FPS-123, combined with successful completion of the Entry Level Training Package. 75% of tasks on the ELTP must have been completed within 12 months of the date of job posting.Required Skills and Education Must be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate level security clearance.
  • Must demonstrate computer software proficiency adequate to operate computer based systems and accomplish administrative duties.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II Cybersecurity Security+ certification IAW DoD 8570.01-M.
  • Two years' experience in the operation and maintenance of the AN/FPS-115, AN/FPS-123, AN/FPS-120 or AN/FPS-126 phased array radar mission computers.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. properly.
