Robert Half Finance is looking to hire a Payroll Specialist for our client, an Atlanta based HVAC Mechanical contracting company. The ideal candidate will have a strong payroll background, and will be comfortable in a fast paced environment. The Payroll Specialist position is a full-time opportunity and is located in the Gwinnett County, Georgia, area. Qualifications/Requirements: • Reviews and posts weekly payroll information by reconciling payroll data for the payroll system. • Ensures all necessary payroll entries are recorded to the general ledger in a timely and accurate manner. • Supervises payroll coordinator to ensure time entries are accurately reflected. • Ensures accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions. • Prepares statistical reports on employee pay, commissions and bonuses, vacation, sick time, disability and workers compensation leave, and taxes/withholdings, etc. • Responsible for balancing payroll runs, reconciling payroll and liabilities, and answering employee questions/troubleshooting issues. • Ensures proper governmental reporting and compliance. • May require accountability to both finance and human resource departments. • Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. • Understanding of payroll tax requirements and certified payroll for construction projects. • At least a minimum level of understanding of mathematics and basic accounting principles will be a necessity for this job. SKILLS ABILITIES Education: • Requires a bachelor's degree. Experience: Must have 3-5 years of payroll experience. Computer Skills: • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office. • SAGE 300 experience preferred
