This program is designed to help accelerate the early development of individuals by offering the opportunity to experience several rotational assignments within a business function. The program will give candidates\:  the ability to “learn by doing”; Greater exposure to various departments within the business; and a better understanding of BIPI.  Initially, we will sponsor positions in the following business functions\: Finance, Information Technology and Prescription Medicines. A Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) executive will sponsor the program, which will consist of several rotations within the specific business function over a period of two to three years, including an international rotation.

The program offers the ability to learn by doing, have exposure to various departments and gain a better understanding the pharmaceutical industry and BI. MRPs complete a minimum of three rotational experiences acting as an internal consultant and project lead. While on program, each MRP is assigned an Executive Sponsor at the leadership level who fosters the development of the Program participants as they rotate among their assignments.

Sample 6 – 8 month rotations for BD&L MRPs could be focused on but are not limited to\: BD & Licensing Outreach (industry, academia, financial and pharma networks) Licensing and Partnering Strategy for Therapeutic Areas (Immunology, Immuno-Oncology, Oncology) Contracting and Alliance Management Global Project Manager (Germany)  Cross Business Rotation (Marketing, Innovation, Sales)

Desired Experience, Skills & Abilities\:

  • MBA or Master degree required, Ph.D. or advance Science degree preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years business experience (related industry experience preferred)

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and coordinate efforts with colleagues from multiple functional areas 

  • Strong understanding of effective project management and tools to leverage   

  • Demonstrate a strong interest and ability to act as an internal consultant

  • Capability to work effectively within a team based and highly matrixed environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent presentation skills

  • Possess strong quantitative/qualitative analytical and problem solving skills

  • Self-starter with a proven track record of delivering results 

  • Willingness to be flexible and take on ad-hoc projects as needed

  • Geographic mobility (Local & Global), potential for work in Cambridge, MA  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products

  • Responsibilities\:

  • Work together with the Global Head BD&L on global licensing activities, ranging from search and evaluation of opportunities, internal approval to enabling business negotiations and deal execution

  • Preparations of project review presentations and documentation for management approval of licensing investments

  • Working with BD&L team members on leading due diligence of pre-clinical projects

  • Working on increasing BI’s visibility through global conference/meeting coverage, networking with biotech, academic institutions, venture capital firms and other pharma companies

  • Working on BI’s “grass-route innovation activities” including BI Office Hours, BI Academy and BI Innovation Price in a specific region (NYC or Boston)

  • Work together with contracting team in US on contract negotiations for various types of partnerships including academic and technology partnerships

  • Working alongside experienced colleagues on active alliance management and addressing issues arising from existing collaborations

  • International project management - oversees all R&D efforts within BI from candidate nomination stage to submission with possibility to work on due diligence of late-stage projects

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
