Family owned company is looking for a Controller. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. We are searching for an individual who can motivate others with a positive professional attitude; displays integrity, reliability and leadership; and can offer outstanding client services by managing self and other with urgency, practicality and accountability. In addition, your responsibilities will include key decision making and challenging, negotiating and influencing the team. Being part of the leadership team, you will advance the production of innovative ideas that are sound and progressive, challenge the status quo, and encourage creativity in your team. The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Johnstown, New York region. Responsibilities - Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies - Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed - Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners - Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations - Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals - Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis - Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques - Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible - Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis - Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities - Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings collections, and payroll
Job RequirementsContact Chris Puls at [Click Here to Email Your Resumé] or 518-462-0868. - Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems - CPA or MBA preferred - Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well - Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations - Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment - Comprehensive knowledge of accounting policy - Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks - Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field - Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required - Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills - Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
