Job Description

The 1st Shift Shipping Manager is responsible for managing all operations related to the shipping department in daily shift operations. He/She will be in constant communication with the Operations Manager, Assistant Shipping Manager, Team Leaders, hourly Associates, and various other employees. The 1st Shift Shipping Manager should have strong knowledge in assorted Ground Parcel and Common Carrier operations such as picking, packing, consolidation, billing and creating Bill of Ladings. He/She should also have functional knowledge of the various other departments within the warehouse.

The 1st Shift Shipping Manager should be able to effectively and efficiently work within the two shipping departments; Grounds and Common Carriers. He/She will should have a strong working knowledge of the various shipping platforms;  LTL,  SPS, DHL Express. The 1st Shift Shipping Manager should be able to answer any questions brought to their attention by the Associates while making the appropriate administrative decisions. The 1st Shift Shipping Manager should also be able to answer emails from various other departments in a timely and appropriate manner.

Above all, The 1st Shift Shipping Manager should be an employee of excellent standing. He/She will hold themselves in the highest standards in which the company requires. The 1st Shift Shipping Manager will enforce all company policies and standards to ensure fair and proper treatment of all employees/situations. The 1st Shift Shipping Manager job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage employee placement and ensure maximum workflow
  • Serve as a liaison between Associates and the Operation Manager
  • Ensure all employees are operating within the current safety guidelines
  • Enforcing company policies and standards
  • Remaining available for to assist in all production positions as needed
  • Creating a fostering team environment that enables shift to attain daily/weekly goals
  • Maintaining productive communication with all other shifts and departments
  • Addressing issues that may require minor warnings (oral, written, or final)
  • Conduct terminations
  • Continuous process improvement implementation and quarterly directives from Operations Manager
  • Conducting daily/weekly meetings with all Associates in conjunction with the Assistant Shipping Manager  
  • Develop the Assistant Manager, so that in the absence of the Manager, He/She can efficiently and effectively run the shift while meeting all goals and objectives
  • Low Base Salary:  

    $55,000.00 

    High Base Salary:  

    $60,000.00 

    Total Compensation:  

    $65,000.00
