Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in our Bloomfield, CT headquarters. This position is responsible for achieving productivity and quality goals of the general ledger in the Accounting department.

  • Manage bank account activity ensuring all daily cash roll-forwards are maintained and activity is posted to the general ledger. Research any discrepancies in a timely manner. Work with Corporate Treasury on banking projects that arise. Maintain perfection certificates required by banking agreements.
  • Reconcile payroll statements to bank activity and prepare required journal entries. Work with Payroll Department and Benefits Department to research and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Monitor and analyze general ledger account balances and activity. Prepare standard, recurring and adjusting journal entries while maintaining the appropriate supporting documentation for the journal entries.
  • Prepare daily account reconciliations ensuring subledger balances tie to the general ledger and any reconciling items are researched and cleared in a timely manner.
  • Prepare the month-end financial statement package for submission to Corporate Reporting team ensuring all schedules are appropriately supported and accurately reflect the results of the company. Ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations ensuring balances are appropriately supported and any reconciling items are researched and cleared in a timely manner.
  • Gain an understanding of the current accounting processes and systems. Leverage this knowledge to integrate the current process flow into the new ERP system processes enabling a successful go-live of Kaman Industrial Technologies.
  • Adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements while completing all assigned work. Assist in Sarbanes-Oxley testing as needed.
  • Support internal and external auditors ensuring a timely and efficient audit completion.
  • Provide the field and customers with accurate and timely researched information, source documents and solutions to problems.
  • Lead by example and support an environment of continuous improvement of processes, documentation of standard work, procedures and policies.
  • Work on special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Job Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field or equivalent work experience
    • 2-4 years of accounting experience
    • Proven success of process improvements
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles in accordance to GAAP
    • Experience with SOX/internal control is a plus
