The Pharmacy Technician, under the supervision of a Pharmacist, has the following duties: orders and stocks medications and supplies needed to serve the patients, as well as preparing the invoices for payment; prepares unit dose medication when not commercially available; refills the automated dispensing machines in nursing areas; does monthly unit inspections and out date procedures; fill all medication orders and delivers to appropriate unit after verification by the pharmacist; monitors all refrigerator/freezer temperatures where medication is stored; assists with billing/crediting patient accounts for medication used/returned. Certified pharmacy technicians prepare sterile products with completion of additional training program; orients new employees to the department, assists nursing with automated dispensing machine troubleshooting; assist with PI process, assist with collection and data entry of patients home medications and other duties as assigned.
Degree / Licensure / Certification / Registration: Registration with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy required.
