Job Description Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer.This role will provide mechanical engineering support and project leadership in a manufacturing environment for assigned Air Transport products. Coordinate assigned activities and establish oneself as the mechanical engineering focal to the remote design engineering organization. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; the creation and maintenance of engineering change notices, supporting the development and qualification of new manufacturing process, analyzing, measuring and improving existing manufacturing processes using six-sigma tools and techniques, interpretation of engineering procedures, drawings and standards to ensure product remains in compliance to both internal and external requirements, collaboration with Quality Engineering on suspect non-conformances utilizing established MRB procedures and practices. This role will also require the individual to establish themselves as the interface between our remote design engineering organization and the local manufacturing site, with a Lean Manufacturing and Design for Six Sigma mindset towards defect reduction and design for manufacturability of the final product and its subassemblies. Typical Education & Experience Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experienceRequired Skills and Education
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and minimum 2 years of experience.
  • Proficient at interpreting engineering documentation and industry standards.
  • Adept at problem solving to true root cause.
  • Demonstrated proficiency at performing mechanical tolerance analysis.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledgeable in electronics manufacturing procedures and practices.
  • Preferred Skills and Education
  • Proven technical skills in materials.
  • Greenbelt certified in statistical process control techniques.
  • Previous experience providing hardware design engineering supporting in a high paced manufacturing environment.
