Southwest Medical, part of OptumCare, is a multi-specialty group of physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants consisting of over 300 providers, 21 medical health centers including six urgent care clinics, four convenient care centers, two lifestyle centers catering to older adults, an outpatient surgery center, home health, hospice and palliative care services, plus E-visits and online options via Now Clinic telemedicine technology. The Sr. Cardiology Technician  supports numerous modalities within the cardiology department. The sr. cardiology tech  performs treadmill stress tests, nuclear stress tests, EKGs, Holter monitors and event recorders at two Southwest Medical clinic locations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with RN supervisor to coordinate patient flow within the cardiology clinic, and assumes other clinic responsibilities as directed by supervisor
  • Proficient in all areas of testing for a cardiology technician
  • Effectively communicate EKG abnormalities and negative testing outcomes to the cardiology team physicians and RNs
  • Maintain compliance with job specific proficient requirements
  • Ensure all completed readings are sent to medical records, and at the direction of the cardiology team physician, all abnormal readings are sent directly back to the referring physician
  • Act as a resource and provide guidance to other cardiology technicians and support staff
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

  • Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • BLS / CPR certification

  • 1+ years experience with 24 hour Holter Monitor application/scanning, performing EKGs and event recorders

  • Knowledge of medical terminology specific to cardiology

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree

  • 5+ years of experience administering exercise stress testing

  • Current ACLS certification or ACLS certification within six months from hire date

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
