Ensure all electrical inspections, testing and repairs are performed and recorded as required by MSHA. Administer activities to ensure compliance with all Federal and State laws, company policies and procedures and union bargaining unit agreement. Troubleshoot problems and supervise, coordinate and monitor routine maintenance of dragline. Coordinate activities for the welding and electrical crews. Manage the work activities to effectively implement maintenance plans, ensuring safe work behaviors and practices.
Ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance and repair of mine equipment, including a BE 2570 dragline, in order to maximize equipment availability. Analyze operational/maintenance requirements and adjust priorities as required. Monitor proper operation and safety of electrical systems throughout the mine. Communicate status of work activities as need with department manager or other departments. Manage and coordinate the work of maintenance contractors. Prepare or review reports as required to evaluate and document activities. Manage and establish the annual expense and capital budget for electrical maintenance.
Seven to ten years experience in mining or a related industry or a college degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mining Engineering. Previous experience in supervising and directing the work of others. Demonstrated knowledge of operation and maintenance functions. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of business functions, including cost control, scheduling and contract management. Demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications, specifically PeopleSoft or other maintenance management software and Microsoft standard office programs. Demonstrated knowledge of environmental and safety regulations. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with other supervisors, professionals, representatives and departmental staff from within and outside the company.
MSHA Electrical Qualified is preferred. Candidate must be able obtain a Surface Mine Foreman Certification.
