We are seeking a Carpentry Assistant Foreman to carry out the essential duties of this position.  This position includes, but is not limited to, the responsibilities and qualifications indicated in this posting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing and leading shop crew toward the successful completion of tradeshow/retail refurbishment, assembly and construction work.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and leading workflow through crew
  • Assist with communicating appropriate schedule, policy, and company communications with crew members
  • Assist with addressing crew discipline through the enforcement of policies including but not limited to attendance, safety, & Always Honest.
  • Assist with reviewing for accuracy, approving, and distributing to production office all crew time cards, vacation/sick/bereavement/jury duty forms, material tickets, and packing lists
  • Participate in necessary Put-to-Work planning meetings and Safety meetings
  • Track estimated project hours vs. actual project hours, keeping actual hours within estimate. Any required work that is outside the original scope should be reported to the Project Manager.
  • Participate in the hiring and layoff process for all carpentry personnel
  • Oversee quality control, ensuring company standards are met
  • Ensure crew working areas are both safe and clean, reporting any safety issues to supervisor
  • Support monthly cycle counts and annual physical inventory requirements
  • Account for and ensure proper working order of tools assigned to or located in work crew
  • Maintain communications in a cooperative, respectful and professional manner with all levels of staff and customers
  • Qualifications

  • Proven carpentry knowledge, ability and experience
  • Proven ability to supervise, lead and manage personnel
  • Proven experience in exhibit business or related field
  • Strong computer and organizational skills
  • Proven experience with hand tools, power tools and woodworking machinery
  • Forklift experience (will certify once hired)
  • Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to read and follow blueprint and work order details thoroughly
  • Ability to train and mentor new and existing employees
  • Ability to communicate respectfully, honestly and constructively
  • Familiarity with CNC Setup, Machining and Operation
  • Work Environment

  • This position reports to the Carpentry Foreman. The Carpentry Assistant Foreman must manage a staff within the fast-paced environment of a trade show exhibit house where deadlines cannot be missed.  The candidate is expected to follow all company policies and safety guidelines while upholding the quality standards of the company.
