Job Description Job purpose:Provide the plant with technical analysis and recommendations for optimization of systems operation resulting in improvement of the process.
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Perform studies aimed at improving equipment and plant performance, document all studies and trials to provide a history from which trends and databases can be developed, and make recommendations based on analyses of study and trial results
  • Assist the Production and Maintenance departments in the establishment of operational parameters and the troubleshooting of process and equipment problems
  • Participate in studies involving procedural plant trials related to process
  • Organize and perform equipment audits to determine troubleshooting problems with equipment
  • Provide expertise in process measurements, calculations, and control to various plant departments when requested
  • Aid various department managers in the selection and evaluation of new capital projects, plant upgrades, and equipment installations
  • Monitor plant operations through continued observation of the Control Room and investigate identified problems
  • Promote the development of Statistical Process Control by acting in an advisory capacity to SPS committees
  • Provide vacation relief for Operations  Manager
  • Participate on safety committees, assist in developing safety programs, monitory plant operations to assist in ensuring safe job performance
  • Assist in the development of training programs for new equipment installations and process for Production Department personnel and support team building and employee cooperation
  • Continually participate in training programs to enhance abilities to provide plant services proficiently in both process and managerial capacity
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds 
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards 
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related major
  • 5 years progressive experience within the heavy industrial manufacturing industry, preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Previous cement process experience is a plus.  Previous continuous process, bulk-material handling operation experience may also be considered beneficial.
  • Prior experience in pyro-processing preferred. 
  • Must possess at least a basic understanding of raw geologic materials (i.e. limestone, clay, sand, iron ore etc.), a basic understanding of their chemical composition, and a familiarity with the crushing,  grinding , blending, kiln processing, cooling, and conveyance (i.e. belts, stackers, pneumatics) of those materials
  • Working conditions:
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors 
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location  
  • Physical requirements:
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Heavy Work-Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment   
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
  • Must be capable of working at heights in excess of 5 stories
