Job Description Job Description BAE Systems FAST Labs is seeking sensor architects to envision, research, and develop advanced EO system concepts, design proof-of-concept breadboards, brassboards, and prototypes, plan and execute conceptual system demonstrations, assessments, and tests, and assist in transitioning validated concepts and architectures to advanced engineering teams as well as production.

Responsibilities include performing systems architectural development functions such as assessing alternative architectures, originating and developing operational systems concepts and conceptual designs, modeling system performance, generating and refining systems- and subsystem-level requirements, assessing system and subsystem risk, and integrating and demonstrating new systems.

New hires are expected to develop the ability to lead small work groups or program teams. The work environment is fast-paced and presents many technical challenges as well as significant growth opportunities. Successful technical contributors will be comfortable working in multi-disciplinary teams, presenting ongoing program work as well as system concepts to customers, and contributing to proposals for new projects.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

1. Conceptualize and assess potential sensor architectures and concepts-of-operations
2. Predict performance of conceptual and existing EO/IR systems using common analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink
3. Generate system & sub-system requirements through modeling and analysis
4. Optimize system-level performance, requirements, and risk by balancing trades between different subsystems
5. Resolve technical points of contention among multi-disciplinary team members to assure seamless system integration
5. Assist in hardware integration and test (both on-site and in field deployments)
6. Conduct customer presentations and informal interaction in support of programs
7. Prepare program progress reports
8. Help win new business by participating in (and eventually leading) new proposal efforts
Engage in IRAD activities to further the state of the art in EO detection, tracking and related subject matters.Typical Education & Experience Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experienceRequired Skills and Education BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, Optical, Manufacturing), Physics or Optics and >8 years experience, MS and >6 years experience or PhD and >4 years industry experience
Working knowledge of laser-based measurements or imaging systems.
Relevant experience creating optical systems from inception through integration and test.
Strong interdisciplinary skills across engineering disciplines and physical sciences
US Citizen and eligible for Secret clearance.
Strong written and oral communication skills.Preferred Skills and Education Expertise in LADAR or LIDAR systems, Infrared Countermeasures, Holography or 3D Imaging.
Proficiency with Matlab or Python.
Proficiency with C++ and real-time implementation of image-processing algorithms
Numerical modeling of the performance of electro-optic systems.
Strong laboratory and data analysis skills.
Active secret clearance.
