Job Description

Arcadis is currently looking for a Construction Manager/Quality Assurance expert for our Anchorage, AK. This person will serve as Arcadis representative project manager, representing the Owner on managing large demolition projects.

  • Serve as Owner’s point of contact for all contractors assigned to the project.
  • Manage existing construction contracts and professional services agreements and initiate additional contracts and PSAs needed collectively to complete demolition and restoration through project final completion. Work includes but is not limited to:
  • 3rd Party Asbestos oversight/monitoring
  • Waste disposal
  • Remove piping and associated equipment terminating at the site
  • Building Demolition
  • Excavation and Remediation
  • Coordinate with Owner Site Manager (Operations) to ensure Owner requirements are scheduled and completed. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Utility disconnects
  • Designation of collection areas for materials
  • Ensuring that adequate fire protection is in service
  • Develop and maintain a project schedule (minimum weekly updates).
  • Manage the project budget and review contractor invoices with weekly updates to the Owner’s Project Manager.
  • Conduct weekly progress review meetings with contractor and other pertinent parties. Draft meeting minutes and combine with weekly update information such as overall status, incidents, accidents, budget overview and any identified issues that could pose a risk to the project schedule or budget.
  • Attend preconstruction, safety, and contractor coordination meetings.
  • Manage on-going issues and change management. Review and make recommendations for approval of change orders and invoices.
  • Work with Owner’s personnel to ensure that internal record keeping policies are adhered to.
  • Work with Owner’s personnel to ensure that project management processes and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that required licensing and permitting is in place.
  • Obtain, review and become familiar with the contractor’s Quality Control (QC) Plan, and confirm that the QC Plan establishes and maintains effective procedures to meet the quality objectives of the project.
  • Provide written acceptance of the QC Plan to the Owner’s Project Manager and Owner’s QA/QC Specialist.
  • Meet regularly with the demo contractor to discuss testing and inspection requirements and results.
  • Perform daily site visits to observe site conditions, materials and workmanship.
  • Review demo contractor’s Daily Reports.
  • Attend and participate in contractor’s inspection and testing functions. The Consultant shall witness the construction contractor’s QC testing.
  • Take representative photos of significant project features.
  • Provide appropriate level of documentation of all quality assurance activities, including a written QA Report for each visit to the Job Site. Submit documentation and daily reports to the Owner’s Project Manager and Owner’s QA/QC Specialist no later than the next day.
  • Meet with the Owner’s Project Manager on a regular basis to provide updates on project status.
  • Meet with the contractor to review pay requests and the level of progress of each line item on the pay request. The QA Representative shall be required to confirm and approve the percentage complete of each line item by initialing the pay request and forwarding to the Owner;s Project Manager.
  • Plan and conduct any additional QA inspections and testing as may be required by the project or as directed by the Owner’s Project Manager or the Owner’s QA/QC Specialist.
  • Participate in all Substantial Completion and Final Inspections.
  • Job RequirementsRequired Qualifications

    • The candidate shall have, as a minimum, at least one of the following:
    • Five (5) years’ experience as a Construction Superintendent; or,
    • Three (3) years’ experience as a Contractor Quality Control Supervisor; or,
    • Four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical; or,
    • Engineering degree with two (2) years’ field inspection experience.
    • Ability to obtain access onto a U.S. Military Installation.
